What remanufactured means here

Every machine we sell as remanufactured goes through the same process, whatever the brand or the price. Not a wipe-down and a price tag.

  1. Inspected and stripped down

    Inspected and stripped down

Assessed frame to console, then taken apart and checked part by part. Nothing gets judged from the outside.

  2. Wear parts replaced

    Wear parts replaced

Belts, cables, bearings, bushings, grips and safety-critical hardware are replaced as standard, whether or not they still have life in them.

  3. Refinished and rebuilt to spec

    Refinished and rebuilt to spec

Electronics bench-tested, frames and welds checked, panels refinished, then reassembled to the manufacturer's specification.

  4. Tested under load

    Tested under load

A full operational cycle under load before it ships. Anything that fails the final check goes back through service, not onto a truck.

Product details

Commercial-grade equipment, inspected and supported by warranty.

The Precor Discovery Series Back Extension provides a dedicated lower back and posterior chain training station with ratcheting hip pad adjustment, foot capture system, anatomically positioned handles, and integrated entry/exit handles - 141 lb commercial frame, 53"×40" footprint. The ratcheting hip pad adjustment is the specification that most directly determines exercise quality: the hip pad position sets where the pivot of the extension occurs relative to the user's hip joint. If the pad sits too high, the lumbar spine does most of the extending while the glutes and hamstrings remain largely passive; too low and the pad restricts the range of motion before full hip extension is reached. A ratcheting system - as opposed to a pin or knob adjustment - allows the pad to be moved in precise, repeatable increments and locks positively at each position, so users can find their optimal setting and return to it consistently without the pad slipping under load. The foot capture system anchors the heels and ankles to provide the ground reaction force that the extension movement requires - without secure foot capture the body slides rather than extends, which eliminates the lower back and posterior chain loading. Anatomically positioned handles give the user grip points that match the natural hand position during a back extension, which helps maintain shoulder and thoracic alignment through the movement rather than allowing the upper body to rotate.

Integrated entry and exit handles for safe mounting in commercial environments. 141 lb Precor Discovery commercial frame, 53"×40" footprint. Remanufactured.

Ratcheting Hip Pad - Precise, Repeatable Pivot Point Setting
Ratcheting adjustment moves the hip pad in precise increments and locks positively at each position - so users can dial in their optimal pivot point and return to it consistently without the pad slipping under load. Too high and the lumbar does most of the work while glutes remain passive; too low and range of motion is restricted before full hip extension. Correct pad position is the single variable that determines the quality of the back extension movement.
Foot Capture · Anatomic Handles · Entry/Exit Handles
Foot capture system anchors heels and ankles to provide the ground reaction force the extension requires - without secure anchoring the body slides rather than extends, eliminating lower back and posterior chain loading. Anatomically positioned handles maintain shoulder and thoracic alignment through the movement. Integrated entry/exit handles enable safe mounting and dismounting in high-traffic commercial settings.

1. What are the exact dimensions and footprint of this back extension machine?

This machine measures 53 inches long, 40 inches wide, and 30 inches high, with a footprint of 15 square feet. Allowing a few extra feet of clearance around it is suggested for safe use and movement.

2. How is the hip pad adjusted, and why does it matter for exercise quality?

The hip pad uses a ratcheting adjustment system, allowing precise, repeatable positioning and positive locking. This lets users set the optimal pivot point for effective lower back and posterior chain engagement.

3. What muscle groups does this machine target?

It primarily targets the erector spinae, gluteus maximus, and hamstrings, with secondary emphasis on the multifidus, adductors, and core stabilizers.

4. What is the condition of this equipment and what does remanufactured mean?

This is a remanufactured commercial machine, meaning it was previously owned and rebuilt in our Texas shop with worn parts replaced and quality tested. Cosmetic marks from prior use may remain, but it is fully functional and certified.

5. What is the warranty coverage for this remanufactured Precor back extension?

Remanufactured equipment comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty from the delivery date. Extended coverage is available through BAG Care+ on the product page.

6. How is delivery handled for this machine?

We offer freight delivery to all lower 48 states, with options for curbside drop-off or inside delivery and assembly. Delivery options and costs can be viewed in the shipping calculator on the product page and at checkout.
